Itinerary
- 10:00Design and briefing
Meet your silversmith, look through sample pieces, and sketch what you want to make — most people choose a ring, a pendant or a pair of earrings. The teacher will tell you honestly whether a design is achievable in two hours.
- 20:20Sawing and shaping
Cut your shape from a sheet or length of silver with a jeweller’s saw, then file and shape it. This is the slowest part and the one that decides how the finished piece looks.
- 30:55Soldering
Join the piece with a torch and solder — closing a ring, attaching a bail to a pendant, or fixing a decorative element. The teacher works alongside you for this step.
- 41:25Texturing and stone setting
Add texture by hammering, stamping or filing, and set a stone if your design calls for one. This is where two people making the same shape end up with completely different pieces.
- 51:45Polishing and finishing
Polish the piece up to a mirror finish, a brushed finish or an oxidised black, then take it home in a box. You keep what you make, and it is finished before you leave.

About the Silver Class Uluwatu
The Bukit peninsula runs on tides. The reef breaks at Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Bingin and Impossibles each want a particular state of water, and the hours in between are the dead time every surf trip has — too late to paddle out, too early for the next session.
A two-hour class fills that precisely. It is indoors, it is out of the sun, and unlike most things on the Bukit it does not require a scooter ride down a cliff path.
There is a natural pairing here too. The Uluwatu ATV track is on the same peninsula, fifteen to thirty minutes away, and the kecak fire dance at Uluwatu Temple runs at sunset. A morning ATV ride, an afternoon at a silver bench, and the temple at dusk makes a genuinely full Bukit day without ever driving north.
It suits surfers on longer trips, couples staying in the Uluwatu and Bingin villas, and anyone who has learned that the Bukit’s cliff-path traffic makes leaving the peninsula more trouble than it is worth.
Safety, weather and cancellation

Silver Class Uluwatu questions
What is there to do in Uluwatu between surf sessions?
The Uluwatu Silver Class is a two-hour indoor workshop on the Bukit peninsula, costing IDR 500,000 per person. It fits the gap between tides on a surf trip and does not require leaving the peninsula.
Can I do the Uluwatu ATV ride and the silver class on the same day?
Yes. The Uluwatu ATV track and the Uluwatu silver studio are 15 to 30 minutes apart on the Bukit peninsula, so a morning ATV ride, an afternoon Silver Class and the sunset kecak at Uluwatu Temple fit into one day.
Is the Uluwatu silver studio near Uluwatu Temple?
The Uluwatu silver studio is on the Bukit peninsula within a short drive of Uluwatu Temple, where the kecak fire dance is performed at sunset each evening.

What can you make in a two-hour silver class?

How much silver is included in the class?
Each Silver Class booking includes up to 5 grams of silver. Pieces that need more silver than that are charged for the extra material at the studio, and you keep whatever you make.
Do I keep the jewellery I make in the silver class?
Yes. You keep whatever you make in the Silver Class, and it is finished, polished and boxed before you leave — there is nothing to collect later and nothing to post home.
What is the minimum age for the silver jewellery class?
The minimum age for the Silver Class is 10, because the workshop involves a soldering torch and sharp tools. Younger children can come along and watch a parent work, but cannot take a bench themselves.
