- 10:00Arrival and briefing
Check in at the Jatiluwih base, gear up with helmet, boots, gloves and body protector, and take the controls briefing. The guide also covers track etiquette around the terraces, which are working farmland.

Out along the tracks at the edge of the Jatiluwih terraces, following the subak water channels that feed them, with the full sweep of the valley opening up on the right.
- 40:55Jungle descent
Into the forest on the lower slopes of Mount Batukaru — shaded, humid, loud with insects, and a completely different landscape from the open terraces above.

About the Jatiluwih ATV
Jatiluwih is the rice terrace that people who know Bali recommend instead of the famous one. It is vast, it is a working landscape rather than a photo stop, and its subak irrigation system — the thousand-year-old cooperative water management that Balinese farmers still run — is why UNESCO listed it as World Heritage.
The track threads the edges of those terraces and then drops into the jungle on the lower slopes of Mount Batukaru, Bali's second-highest volcano. It is greener, wetter and quieter than anything in the south, and at 700 metres the air stays comfortable through the middle of the day.
At IDR 400,000 this is the least expensive ATV tour in the range, and it is also the gentlest: fewer technical sections, more scenery, and a pace that suits first-time riders and families. If you want to be thrown around in mud, book Ubud or Sukawati. If you want to ride somewhere genuinely beautiful, book this.
Safety, weather and cancellation
Every ride starts with a briefing from the team. You are fitted with a machine, full safety gear and clear riding instructions, then given a practice lap on flat ground before the track begins — so nobody sets off unsure of what the throttle does.
All guides are local, English-speaking, and ride the track with your group rather than sending you off alone.
Tours run in light rain — the tracks are at their best when they are wet. If conditions are genuinely unsafe the activity is rescheduled or refunded in full, and that call is made by the guide on the day.

Jatiluwih ATV questions
How much is the Jatiluwih ATV tour?
The ATV Adventure with Jungle Tour in Jatiluwih costs IDR 400,000 (about USD 24) per person for 90 minutes, which makes it the cheapest ATV tour in the range. The price includes an English-speaking guide, helmet, boots, gloves, body protector and drinking water.
Which is the cheapest ATV ride in Bali?
The Jatiluwih ATV tour in Tabanan is the cheapest of these six ATV rides at IDR 400,000 per person, compared with IDR 500,000 in Ubud, IDR 550,000 at Sukawati and IDR 600,000 in Kintamani or Uluwatu.
Is the Jatiluwih ATV ride suitable for beginners?
Yes. The Jatiluwih ATV route is the gentlest of the six, with fewer technical sections than the Ubud or Sukawati tracks, which makes it a common choice for first-time riders and families.
Do you ride through the Jatiluwih rice terraces themselves?
The Jatiluwih ATV route follows tracks along the edges of the terraces and the subak irrigation channels rather than crossing the planted fields, which are working farmland protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
How long is the drive to Jatiluwih from Ubud or Canggu?
The Jatiluwih ATV base is roughly 90 minutes by car from Ubud and about 90 minutes to two hours from Canggu or Seminyak. The final mountain road is narrow, so allow more time than a map estimate suggests.
What is the weather like at Jatiluwih for an ATV ride?
Jatiluwih sits at around 700 metres on the slopes of Mount Batukaru, so it is cooler than the coast and catches more rain, particularly in the afternoon. Morning departures generally get the clearest views across the terraces.
What is the minimum age for the Jatiluwih ATV ride?
The minimum age to drive an ATV at Jatiluwih is 12, with no driving licence required. Younger children can join as a passenger on a tandem machine with an adult driving.
