About the Benoa Snorkeling
Tanjung Benoa is the watersports strip on the calm eastern side of the Bukit, and its reef sits inside a lagoon protected by an offshore break. The water there is flat almost every day of the year, which is exactly why the whole industry set up on this beach.
One hour is short, and that is the point. This is the trip for a half-day with children, for a morning before an afternoon flight, or for anyone staying in Nusa Dua who wants to snorkel without committing to a boat crossing to Nusa Penida.
Set your expectations on the reef itself. It is a busy, well-used site rather than pristine coral — there are reef fish, sea urchins and sandy patches, and visibility varies with the tide. What it offers is easy, safe, warm, close water, and for a lot of families that is the right trade.

Benoa Snorkeling questions
How much is snorkeling at Tanjung Benoa?
Tanjung Benoa snorkeling costs IDR 120,000 (about USD 9) per person for a one-hour trip, including the boat, mask, snorkel, fins, buoyancy jacket and an in-water guide.
Is Tanjung Benoa good for snorkeling?
Tanjung Benoa is a well-used, easy snorkeling site rather than a pristine reef. The lagoon is flat, shallow and safe, with reef fish and sandy patches, which makes it a practical choice for families and beginners in south Bali. For healthier coral, Nusa Penida or Blue Lagoon are better.
How far is Tanjung Benoa from Nusa Dua and the airport?
Tanjung Benoa is about 20 minutes by car from Nusa Dua and roughly 25 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, on the eastern side of the Bukit peninsula in Badung Regency.
Can young children snorkel at Tanjung Benoa?
The minimum age for snorkeling at Tanjung Benoa is 7. The lagoon is shallow and sheltered with almost no current, which makes it the most manageable site in the range for children, and buoyancy jackets are worn throughout.
How long is the Tanjung Benoa snorkeling trip?
The Tanjung Benoa snorkeling trip lasts one hour in total, with about 35 minutes of that spent in the water. It is the shortest activity in the range, which suits a half-day or a morning before a flight.
Do I need to be able to swim to snorkel at Tanjung Benoa?
Non-swimmers can join these snorkeling trips. Buoyancy jackets are provided and worn for the whole time in the water, and a guide stays in the water with the group.
Is Tanjung Benoa snorkeling available in the rainy season?
Yes. The Tanjung Benoa reef sits inside a lagoon sheltered by an offshore break, so the water stays flat through most of the year. Heavy rain can reduce underwater visibility, but trips generally still run.
