Riding in Uluwatu
The Bukit Peninsula at Bali's southern tip is limestone rather than volcanic clay, and that changes the riding. Instead of Ubud's slippery ravines and jungle canopy, the Uluwatu track at Bukit Sari ATV runs over hard-packed white dirt, through scrub and cashew groves, with short steep climbs, watered mud sections and fast open straights.
Where the tracks are
There is one purpose-built ATV track on the Bukit: Bukit Sari ATV Adventure at Jalan Pura Kulat No. 18, Pecatu, about 10 minutes inland from Padang Padang and Bingin beaches and 15 minutes from Uluwatu Temple. It is the only ATV ride we list outside the Ubud area and by far the closest to the surf villas of Uluwatu, Bingin, Balangan and Jimbaran, and to the resorts of Nusa Dua.
What the rides are like
Sessions leave hourly from 09:00 to 16:00 and last about 1.5 hours on the track. Bikes are automatic 250cc quads, available as single riders (Rp 450,000, about US$ 28) or tandem for two (Rp 750,000, about US$ 47). The course mixes muddy sections that are watered in the dry season, steep inclines, jungle-shaded paths and open countryside. Helmets, rubber boots, basic accident insurance, lockers, showers, a fresh coconut at the break point and a local lunch are all included.
Getting there
From Uluwatu, Pecatu and Bingin the venue is 10–15 minutes by scooter or car; transfers within the Uluwatu area are included in the "With Round-Trip Transfers" packages (Rp 850,000 single, Rp 1,150,000 tandem). From Jimbaran and Nusa Dua the driver charges an extra Rp 250,000 per car; from Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur it is Rp 350,000 per car, paid directly to the driver. Driving yourself from Seminyak takes about an hour via the Bali Mandara toll road.
Best time to ride
The Bukit is Bali's driest region, so the track is rideable all year. In the dry season (May–October) book the 09:00 or 10:00 slot before the midday heat and pair the ride with a sunset Kecak dance at Uluwatu Temple. Wet-season afternoons (December–February) bring proper mud and the best splash photos.

01How much does an ATV ride in Bali cost?
Single-rider ATV packages start at Rp 375,000 (about US$ 23) per person at Beji River ATV in Singapadu and run up to Rp 850,000 (about US$ 53) for a 450cc single at Alasan ATV. Tandem quads for two people on one bike start at Rp 475,000 (about US$ 30). Packages with round-trip hotel transfers from the Ubud area cost roughly Rp 250,000–350,000 more per person; from Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta or Sanur the driver adds Rp 350,000 per car. Every price includes the ATV, helmet, boots, guide, insurance, showers and lunch.
02Do I need a driving licence to ride an ATV in Bali?
No. All eight tracks are on private land, so no driving licence or international permit is required. The quads are fully automatic, and every session starts with a safety briefing and a practice lap before a guide leads the group onto the trail.
03What is the minimum age to ride an ATV?
Drivers must be at least 12 years old at seven of the eight tracks and 16 years old at Green Bali ATV. Younger children ride as tandem passengers with an adult: from 5 years at Wahana Bali Adventure, Pertiwi Adventure and All New Bali Adventures, from 6 years at Kuber ATV, and from 7 years at Green Bali ATV. Riders under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.
04How long does an ATV ride take?
You spend 1.5 hours on the track at most venues, sometimes closer to 2 hours at Kuber ATV and All New Bali Adventures. Add 20–30 minutes for registration, gearing up and the practice lap, and 30–45 minutes for the shower and lunch afterwards. With hotel transfers from Ubud the whole outing takes about 3 hours; from Seminyak, Canggu or Kuta allow 5 hours door to door.
05Is hotel pick-up included?
Choose a package labelled "With Round-Trip Transfers" and a driver collects you from your hotel or villa. Pick-up is free within the Ubud area for the seven Ubud tracks and within the Uluwatu area for Bukit Sari. From Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu and Sanur the driver charges an extra Rp 350,000 per car; from Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu to the Ubud tracks it is Rp 450,000 per car (Rp 250,000 per car from Jimbaran and Nusa Dua to Bukit Sari). "Meet at venue" packages are cheaper if you have your own transport.
