Sukawati is best known to most visitors for its art market, but the reason to come here for a ride is underground. The private track has a cave tunnel wide enough and tall enough to take an ATV through, lit only by your headlights and whatever daylight reaches in from either end.
The rest of the route is the most technical in the range. The track drops through dense jungle into a river valley, crosses the water, and climbs out up a steep clay bank — the one section where the guide talks each rider through the line individually.
It also passes through a working village rather than a staged one, where the lane is shared with chickens and the occasional scooter. At IDR 50,000 more than the Ubud single ride, the cave is what the difference buys.
The Sukawati ATV base is about 20 minutes by car south of central Ubud, roughly 45 minutes from Sanur, and about an hour from Seminyak or Canggu depending on traffic.
Any departure works, though the cave photographs best in the middle of the day when more light reaches the entrances. The clay climb is at its most challenging — and most fun — after rain.

The Barong Cave sits on a private ATV track at Sukawati in Gianyar Regency, about 20 minutes south of central Ubud. It is reached only as part of the ATV tour, which costs IDR 550,000 per person.
You ride through it. On the Sukawati ATV tour the machines enter the cave tunnel in single file with headlights on and ride straight through, rather than parking outside and walking in.
Sukawati is about 20 minutes by car south of central Ubud in Gianyar Regency, on the road down towards Sanur and Denpasar.
Yes, though it is slightly more technical than the Ubud track because of a steep clay climb out of the river valley. The guide talks each rider through that section and beginners complete it regularly.
