Ask a driver in Ubud for "ATV" and you will be offered a dozen options within ten minutes. Most are resellers for the same handful of tracks. This guide explains where those tracks actually are, what separates them, and how to book the right one without the markup.
Why Ubud is Bali's ATV capital
The land north and south of Ubud is a patchwork of family-owned plantation and rice terrace on steep volcanic soil, cut by rivers running down from Kintamani. Over the past fifteen years local families in Payangan, Tegallalang, Singapadu and Abiansemal have turned strips of that land into private off-road loops: clay ramps, mud pools, river crossings, bamboo tunnels and, in a few places, caves blasted or carved through the rock. Because everything is private, no licence is needed and the tracks can be shaped purely for fun.

The seven Ubud tracks, by village
Payangan (north-west, 25 minutes)
Kuber ATV in Banjar Bayad is the flagship: jungle ravine, mud pools, red-rock cave, and the best venue facilities of any track. Five slots a day (08:30, 10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 15:00). Single Rp 600,000, tandem Rp 850,000 meet at venue.
Taro, Tegallalang (north, 35 minutes)
Alasan ATV is the power option with 250cc and 450cc quads, steep hills, river streams and valley views. Hourly 09:00–16:00. Single Rp 600,000 (250cc) or Rp 850,000 (450cc).
Singapadu, Sukawati (south, 20–25 minutes)
Three tracks sit within a few kilometres of each other on the road to Batubulan:
- Green Bali ATV: gorilla cave and waterfall. Single Rp 500,000, tandem Rp 600,000. Drivers 16+.
- Beji River ATV Adventure: river crossings, 350cc option, and the lowest price on the island at Rp 375,000 single.
- Wahana Bali Adventure: farmland, bamboo forest, rice terraces and a small waterfall. Single Rp 450,000, tandem Rp 650,000.
All three run hourly from 09:00 to 16:00 and are the closest tracks to Sanur and Denpasar.
Bongkasa and Sedang, Abiansemal (west, 30–35 minutes)
Across the Ayung River in Badung regency:
- Pertiwi Adventure ATV in Bongkasa: mud, splashes, village lanes and a traditional Indonesian lunch. Single Rp 500,000, tandem Rp 750,000.
- All New Bali Adventures in Sedang: 100% off-road with caves and a bamboo forest, lunch served before the ride. Single Rp 450,000, tandem Rp 650,000.
These two are the nearest tracks to Canggu (about an hour).
What an Ubud ATV ride looks like, minute by minute
- Arrival and registration (15 minutes). Sign the waiver, leave valuables in a locker, collect a helmet and rubber boots. Every venue has changing rooms.
- Briefing and practice lap (10–15 minutes). Throttle on the right thumb, brakes on both hands, no clutch. You do a lap of a flat field until the guide is happy.
- The ride (90–120 minutes). Single file behind the lead guide with a sweeper at the back. Expect a mix of plantation dirt road, clay ramps, bamboo forest, a river or two, deliberately deep mud pools and, at Kuber, Green Bali and All New Bali Adventures, a cave. Guides stop at the photo points and will take pictures with your phone.
- Shower and lunch (30–45 minutes). Hot showers, a clean towel, and a plated local lunch (nasi goreng, mie goreng or a rice set) with bottled water. At All New Bali Adventures lunch comes first.
Total time at the venue is about 2.5–3 hours.
Getting to the tracks
- From Ubud centre: scooter or Grab/Gojek car, 20–35 minutes. Meet-at-venue packages are the cheapest choice.
- With transfers: every track sells a "With Round-Trip Transfers" package with free pick-up anywhere in the Ubud area. The driver collects you 30–45 minutes before your slot.
- From the south: the same packages work from Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta and Sanur with a Rp 350,000 per-car surcharge paid to the driver, and from Jimbaran, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu for Rp 450,000 per car. Read our hotel pick-up guide for drive times.

Best time slots and seasons
- Dry season (April–October): book 08:30–10:00. Afternoons are hot and dusty, though operators water the mud pools daily.
- Wet season (November–March): any slot works; afternoon rain makes the course muddier and more fun. Bring a dry bag.
- Avoid the day of Nyepi (the island shuts down completely) and expect bigger groups on Indonesian public holidays and weekends.
Combining ATV with the rest of Ubud
A 09:00 ride finishes around noon, which leaves the afternoon for the Tegallalang rice terraces (on the way back from Alasan or Kuber), Tirta Empul temple (15 minutes from Taro), the Monkey Forest or a spa. Riders from the Singapadu tracks are five minutes from Bali Bird Park and the Batubulan stone carvers. Do the ATV first: you will want that shower before anything else.
Booking checklist
- Check the minimum age on the ride page (12 at most tracks, 16 at Green Bali, tandem passengers from 5–7).
- Pick "With Round-Trip Transfers" only if you need the car; Ubud-based riders save Rp 250,000–350,000 per person by meeting at the venue.
- Pay in full or a 25% deposit; the e-voucher arrives by email within a minute.
