What to Wear for an ATV Ride in Bali
Expect mud and water. Wear clothes you do not mind staining and closed-toe shoes, and bring a change of clothes, sunscreen and a waterproof phone pouch.
The short answer
Wear old, comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting muddy and wet. Arrive in closed-toe shoes. Bring a change of clothes and a towel, sunscreen, insect repellent, a waterproof phone pouch and some cash. The venue gives you a helmet and rubber boots.
What the venue supplies
Packages at all 8 tracks list:
- A helmet and rubber boots
- Lockers for your things (at Kuber a key deposit applies)
- Changing rooms and showers
Towels are less clear. Some venues list one, while others, such as Alasan ATV, ask you to bring your own. Bring one in any case.
Clothes and shoes
- Top and bottoms: anything comfortable that dries quickly. Mud can stain, so leave good clothes at your hotel. Long sleeves and trousers give more cover from sun and scratches, while shorts and a T-shirt are cooler.
- Shoes: Alasan's notes ask for closed-toe shoes or sturdy sandals. Wear something you can walk in and that can get dirty. The rubber boots are for the ride itself.
- Socks: Kuber ATV recommends socks for the rubber boots, which is a good idea anywhere.
- Underwear: Beji River ATV suggests a spare set. You can get wet through on river sections.
- Hair and accessories: tie back long hair, and take off scarves, long necklaces and anything else that can snag.
- Glasses: use a strap if you have one.
Sun and insects
Sunscreen and insect repellent are on the bring list at every track. Put them on before the ride.
Phone and valuables
Several venues suggest a waterproof pouch or bag for your phone or camera, including Wahana ATV and Green Bali ATV. Everything you do not need on the ride goes in a locker. Leave what you can at your hotel.
Bring some rupiah in cash for personal purchases. Photos and video on the track are not included, so bring cash if you want them.
After the ride
You can shower and change at the venue. A plastic bag for wet and muddy clothes is useful, and it is on Kuber's list. If a driver is taking you back, you will be glad of dry clothes. See hotel pick-up for how transfers work.
Lunch is part of the package. Wahana ATV asks to hear about dietary needs in advance, and it makes sense to tell us early for any venue.
Rainy days
Rides generally run rain or shine. Green Bali ATV and Wahana ATV say so in their notes, and both say severe or extreme weather can change the plan. Rain means more mud, so wear the same kind of clothes and keep your dry set in something waterproof.
